Mans Taking Washing Machine

Our new washer and dryer arrived this morning. On the one hand, we really didn't need the expense right now. On the other, it's not as though inanimate objects can schedule their fail dates to coincide with pay raises or tax refunds. Besides, the new machines are much better suited to our needs. The washer alone is nearly twice as big as our old washer, and it loads from the top as opposed to the front, which should spare my time and my back the losing battle with mildew.

But it wasn't love at first sight for Emilia. When she saw the first machine being carried outside she exclaimed, "Oh no! Mans taking washing machine! Two mans. Mans, put it back!" I did my best to explain that we were getting new machines because the dryer no longer worked and the washing machine was much too small. "Okay," she finally conceded. She then bade the old machines farewell, welcomed the new ones amiably, and waited patiently while we removed the stickers and decided on settings for the first wash load. So far so good. After four loads (delivery took a while; life went on), Martin and I are quite happy with the pair. And thanks in large part to another see-through washing machine door (lid),  it wasn't long before Emilia was smitten too!
