August

August is a bittersweet month for me. It's warmth and light and adventures, but it's all too fleeting. So this year I've taken some pictures to awaken its memory when the frost is on the pumpkin...

Emilia and I pass this, our neighbor's barn, at least twice a day. Just seeing it makes me smile. It's exactly the sort of thing we hoped to find when we made the decision to move to the country.

A few weeks ago our neighbor made hay ...

... and we went swimming at Baxter Conservation with friends.

Then, last week, we visited my family in Connecticut for my birthday.

On the way home we stopped for gas an exit or two before the Canadian border. These cows were grazing just beyond the little convenience store. I'd never seen such markings. Nor had the others with cameras poised!

It's always a treat to harvest fresh produce from our garden. I wish I could say that our green tomatoes yielded delicious green tomato pickles, but at least they were pretty.

A fantastic assortment of yarn and related items from a fantastic friend. Since turning 29 couldn't be helped, at least there's Christmas to prepare for and look forward to.

Speaking of which, this little guy is newly finished and patiently waiting to be gifted.

And last but certainly not least, that smile... Cliché or not, it will always be a ray of sunshine, no matter the season.
