The First Little Dress

Yesterday I spent the better part of Emilia's two naps making my first Little Dress for Africa. Though I'd sewn numerous quilt tops and a handful of teddy bears, I'd never before sewn an article of clothing. Granted, the pattern isn't terribly difficult. In fact, these dresses are often made from pillow cases. The hardest parts, I found, were making my own bias tape, getting it to lie relatively flat around the arm holes, and taking pictures of my little model in which her face and the dress were clearly showing but her diaper was not! All in all, I'm pretty pleased with my work. Both the dress and the sweet girl inside!

beautiful! well done Michele! It is so gratifying to create something "from scratch" all on one's own, especially for our little ones, but oh! to share it, to spread it with others is fulfilling beyond measure ! You have motivated me to do even more than I already do - so rare is it that I have a friend who is equally eager to give - I am excited with the possibilities! thank you michele!
